Chairman.Kenneth Bartels
Mr. Bartels is an active private investor in both early stage and listed biotech companies. He is the founder and President of Paxton Properties Incorporated, a real estate investment firm based in New York City that concentrates on acquiring and managing center city office buildings in the United States and Europe. Mr. Bartels is a director of several other private companies. Earlier in his career Mr. Bartels was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated, New York and Tokyo, and Citicorp, New York. Mr. Bartels holds an A.B., from Harvard College and an M.B.A., from the Harvard Business School.Nitin Parekh, Ph.D.
Dr. Parekh has worked at the management level for DSM, Chemie Linz, Upjohn (Pharmacia-Pfizer), Monsanto (The NutraSweet company), Hoechst, Boehringer Mannheim and Knoll AG. In addition, he has extensive experience in strategic development working with Biotech, Start-up and emerging pharma companies. Some of the companies Nitin has concluded deals with include Genzyme, Cubist, Myriad, Gilead, Ilex, and OSI PharmaPeter Sears
Mr. Sears retired as President of SR One, the venture capital arm of Smith Kline, in 1999. Mr. Sears developed SR One from inception and led it in investing $260 million in ninety biotech firms, achieving a 60% annual return. Prior to SR One, Mr. Sears served in a number of positions for Smith Kline, including Manager for Japan & Korea, and Vice President of Consumer Products for Canada & Asia Pacific. Mr. Sears also is a director at Avant Immunotherapeutics and Pinnacle Therapeutics.
